Q1: How to pay UPPCL electricity bill online (Urban & Rural)?

You can securely pay your UPPCL Rural (mPower) or Urban electricity bill via the official Bijli Babu portal or UPPCL website. We also support UPI apps like GPay, PhonePe, and Paytm for instant bill clearance.

Q2: How does UPPCL Smart Meter work and how to check balance?

A Smart Meter tracks real-time consumption and syncs with UPPCL servers daily. To check your prepaid balance, use the official UPPCL Smart Meter App or log in to the consumer portal.

Q3: How to apply for a new electricity connection (Jhatpat Yojana)?

For domestic connections, apply via the Jhatpat Yojana Portal. For commercial or industrial loads, visit Nivesh Mitra. Required documents include ID proof (Aadhar) and property ownership papers.

Q4: What is the UPPCL Complaint Number for power cuts?

Dial 1912 (Toll-Free) anywhere in Uttar Pradesh. This 24x7 helpline handles complaints regarding power cuts, billing errors, and transformer issues.

Q5: How to download UPPCL Bill Receipt after payment?

After payment, a digital receipt is generated instantly. You can also visit the 'History' section on the UPPCL website or Bijli Babu app to download duplicate bill receipts (PDF) for the last 12 months.

Q6: What is the UPPCL One Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme?

The OTS Scheme (Surcharge Waiver) allows consumers to clear pending dues with a 100% waiver on interest. Check the latest OTS dates on the official website.

Q7: How to calculate domestic connection load (kW)?

Add the wattage of all appliances (AC, Fans, Fridge). Divide the total watts by 1000. Example: 2000 Watts = 2kW sanctioned load. Incorrect load can lead to penalties.

Q8: How to update Mobile Number (KYC) in electricity bill?

Go to the UPPCL website, select 'Update Mobile Number/KYC', enter your 10-digit Account Number, and verify via OTP to link your phone for SMS alerts.

Q9: Procedure for burnt meter replacement in UP?

Report immediately at 1912. Do not tamper with the meter. A Junior Engineer (JE) will inspect and replace the burnt meter. You may need to pay a testing fee if applicable.

Q10: UPPCL Tariff Rates: Urban vs Rural differences?

UPERC sets different tariff slabs. Generally, Rural (Unmetered/Metered) rates are subsidized compared to Urban Metered consumers. Check the latest 'Tariff Order' for per-unit costs.

Q11: How to change the name on Electricity Bill (Mutation)?

Apply for 'Mutation' on the Jhatpat Portal. You need the sale deed, registry, or succession certificate. Once verified, the bill will be transferred to the new owner's name.

Q12: What are Fixed Charges in UP electricity bills?

Fixed Charges are monthly fees based on your Sanctioned Load (e.g., ₹110/kW), payable regardless of power consumption. Reducing your load can lower this charge.

Q13: Can I increase or decrease my sanctioned load online?

Yes, log in to the consumer account and choose 'Load Enhancement' or 'Load Reduction'. You may need to pay a security deposit difference for load increase.

Use the 'Bijli Chori' link on the UPPCL portal or call 1912. Your identity remains confidential while helping reduce distribution losses.

Q15: Penalty for late payment of electricity bill?

A Late Payment Surcharge (LPSC) is levied on the dues. Continuous non-payment for 2-3 months may trigger a Disconnection Notice (RC/DC).

Q16: How to get a temporary electricity connection?

Apply via the Jhatpat Portal for temporary supply (e.g., for weddings, construction). Prepaid meters are often installed for such temporary periods.

Q17: Solar Rooftop Subsidy in Uttar Pradesh?

Apply through the UPNE Solar Rooftop Portal. The government offers subsidies for residential sectors, and you can avail of 'Net Metering' to reduce your monthly bills.

Q18: How to view past electricity bill history?

Log in to your account on the UPPCL website (Urban or Rural). Go to 'Billing Information' to view consumption history and payment records for tax purposes.

Q19: Interest on Security Deposit by UPPCL?

UPPCL provides annual interest on the security deposit held against your connection. This amount is automatically adjusted in your electricity bill once a year.

Q20: Complaint for high/wrong electricity bill?

Submit a 'Bill Revision' request online. If unsatisfied, pay a 'Check Meter' fee to have a parallel meter installed for accuracy verification.
